Well, our advise is to respond with..."before you get in my pocket, I want a written guarrantee". The real problem here is...no one has a clue. These sales people make a living selling iron. They sell, deliver, set up, push the cycle start button and go to the bank. You, the buyer, get five to seven years worth of payment coupons. That's a fair trade and a legitimate business transaction. However, there is not a machine dealer in the country that has a clue how to get you making money porting cylinder heads with 5 axis simultaneous technology, after the check is in the bank. Most all of them know how before the sale is made. Typical statements will go like... "We have our own application specialists that will work with you and show you how to use this machine. We do that all the time. Plus, we have the factory personnel to back us up." Happens every time...the machine tool market is competitive and anything will be said to make you buy their machine. The fact of the matter, the factory personnel don't have a clue either. None of them have successfully reverse engineered and machined cylinder head ports with 5 axis simultaneous motion without some outside agency performing a key function. Including the manufacturers that get editorial coverage in our racing industry publications. This is not an attempt to slam manufacturers of machine tools but to serve as a guide to the unsuspecting buyer of the pitfalls associated with moving into a world you may know nothing about.
